Angelina Jolie has sold her sprawling Los Angeles estate for $24.75 million, earning only a modest amount above the $24.5 million she paid for the property in 2017. The sale comes as the actress has expressed interest in eventually moving abroad, amid her concerns about the political climate in the United States.
Jolie’s former residence sits on 2.1 acres in Laughlin Park, a gated community in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles. The property was once owned by legendary filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille and features an approximately 11,000-square-foot Beaux-Arts-style mansion.
The estate was initially listed for $29.85 million in the spring, but the final sale price came in $5.1 million below that asking price. Despite the difference, the transaction brought Jolie just $250,000 more than her original purchase price, before accounting for selling expenses, taxes and other costs.
The historic mansion includes six bedrooms, 10 full bathrooms, a library and a wine cellar. Additional amenities include a guesthouse with a fireplace, a pool house, a fitness studio, a teahouse and a three-car garage.
Jolie purchased the estate in June 2017, several months after filing for divorce from actor Brad Pitt. The property’s size, architectural character and Hollywood history have made it one of the notable residential listings in the Los Angeles luxury market.
Ernie Carswell of Sotheby’s International Realty and Jon Grauman of Resident Group represented the listing. Following speculation about the identity of the buyer, Carswell clarified in an Instagram interview that reports naming Madonna as the purchaser were incorrect. He did not publicly disclose the buyer’s identity.
Larry Ellison Relists His Florida Oceanfront Estate for $165 Million
Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison is making another attempt to sell his expansive oceanfront property in North Palm Beach, Florida, this time with an asking price of $165 million.
Ellison acquired the 8.4-acre estate in 2021 for $80 million and initially offered it for sale the following year at $145 million. The property was withdrawn from the market in 2023, but it has now returned with a substantially higher price tag.
The estate features a 15,514-square-foot Tuscan-style mansion with seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms. One of its standout features is approximately 562 feet of direct Atlantic Ocean frontage, offering extensive waterfront views and access.
Ellison’s Florida real estate activity has also included the development of a large compound in Manalapan, an exclusive coastal community south of Palm Beach. The area is known for its luxury residences and proximity to Mar-a-Lago.
Paul Kaneb and James Kenny of K2 Realty are handling the North Palm Beach listing.
John McEnroe and Patty Smyth List Their Malibu Beachfront Home
Tennis legend John McEnroe and singer Patty Smyth are asking $35 million for their beachfront property in Malibu, California. The couple, whose primary residence is on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, purchased the California home for $21 million in 2015.
Located within the gated Paradise Cove community, the property occupies approximately one-third of an acre and offers sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. The nearly 6,500-square-foot residence was built in the mid-1990s and features four bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms.
Outdoor amenities include an oceanfront deck and a landscaped front yard with a waterfall. The property also has a tiki-style fitness pavilion, adding to its resort-like appeal.
The $35 million asking price represents a significant increase over the couple’s original purchase price. Chris Cortazzo of Compass is representing the listing.
Little Steven Seeks $18.995 Million for Greenwich Village Penthouse
Steven Van Zandt, best known as a member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band and for his role in The Sopranos, is once again offering his Manhattan penthouse for sale with his wife, Maureen Van Zandt.
The couple is asking $18.995 million for the duplex residence in Greenwich Village. They purchased the apartment in 2008 for $6 million, making the property a long-term real estate holdin
The penthouse occupies the top two floors of a low-rise building dating to 1860. Originally constructed in the Romanesque Revival style, the building was later converted from a church into a boutique condominium.
The approximately 3,500-square-foot residence features three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a private terrace measuring around 500 square feet. The outdoor space includes a kitchen, providing an additional area for entertaining.
The home was first listed in June for $15 million before returning to the market at its current asking price of $18.995 million. Mark Friedman and Richard Rosenthal of Brown Harris Stevens are representing the property.
Linda Evangelista Sells Manhattan Penthouse for $6.75 Million
Supermodel Linda Evangelista has sold her longtime West Chelsea penthouse in Manhattan for $6.75 million, considerably below its original asking price of $9.45 million. Nevertheless, the transaction represents a substantial gain compared with the $1.44 million she paid for the property in 2001.
The 4,022-square-foot apartment has four bedrooms and two full bathrooms, along with a private rooftop deck spanning approximately 2,500 square feet.
The residence had been listed on and off since 2024 and was also rented to actor Keanu Reeves while he appeared in the Broadway production of Waiting for Godot. The reported monthly rent was $45,000.
Evangelista has since purchased a newly built condominium in Hudson Yards, paying $5.42 million for a three-bedroom residence with three-and-a-half bathrooms.
Steve Gold of the Corcoran Group handled the West Chelsea property listing.
Luxury Real Estate Remains in Motion
From Angelina Jolie’s near break-even sale in Los Angeles to Larry Ellison’s ambitious Florida listing, these transactions highlight the different outcomes high-profile homeowners can experience in the luxury property market.
While some sellers are seeking substantial gains or testing higher asking prices, others are adjusting their plans and moving on to new residences. For Jolie, the $24.75 million sale marks the end of her ownership of a historically significant Hollywood estate as she considers a possible move overseas.
